How to Grant Cision Google Analytics (Universal Analytics) API Access
Until the required Google update in July 2023 to move Universal Analytics properties to Google Analytics 4 properties, you can set up your site on both Google Analytics 4 as well as Universal Analytics. This allows you to explore your Google Analytics 4 property, and switch over to view your Universal Analytics property any time. You can find instructions to add a new Universal Analytics and/or Google Analytics 4 Property here in step 6.
Note: In order to integrate Google Analytics with the Next Generation Cision Communications Cloud currently, you will still need to use the Tracking ID associated with the Universal Analytics property, as described below.

First Steps: Capture the New User Email Address to Add to Google Analytics:
In the Next Generation Cision Communications Cloud: | |
1. Click on the Person Icon in the upper-right corner and select the Settings option. | ![]() |
2. In the Settings window, select the Integrations tab. 3. In the Google Analytics section, copy the email address, in order to add it as a new View-only user in your Google Analytics account. | |

4. Click on the Admin button in the bottom left-hand corner. | ![]() |
5. From the Account dropdown, select the account for which you would like to add a new user. 6. Click on the Account Access Management tab. 7. Click on the blue plus-sign icon in the upper-right of the Account Access Management window, then select the Add users option. | |

8. Paste the email address that you copied from the Next Generation Cision Communications Cloud in Step 4. 9. Uncheck the box for Notify new users by email. 10. Ensure that the Viewer option is selected. 11. Click on the Add button. | |

You've now added a new user as the first step to apply API access! Follow the remaining steps below to complete the process. |
Final Steps: Add the Tracking ID and View ID from Google Analytics:
Note: These must be the Tracking and View IDs from your Google Universal Analytics (UA) property, as this will be the property tracking data via the API for the Next Generation Cision Communications Cloud.
If you only have a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property for your website, you will need to create a Universal Analytics property for your website and sync that with your GA4 property, using the GA4 Setup Assistant or Setup Assistant tab. In your Google Analytics Account:1. Select the Universal Analytics property from the Property dropdown. (It will have UA- as part of the property name) Note: Use the Setup Assistant in Google Analytics to sync your GA4 and UA properties if you have not already done so. 2. You're all set!Now that it’s all set up, you’ll be able to view your data within the next 24 hours in Cision. You will see additional columns when you’re looking at any list of articles. In your dashboard, make sure to add the new widgets you now have access to, including: “Total Coverage vs. Total Web Traffic” and “PR Referral Web Traffic vs. Non-PR Web Traffic”.
