Managing Media Lists

After adding Contacts and Outlets to media lists, you can search for those lists later on to make changes, find specific contacts, and export the list into an Excel .csv file or Briefing Book.

Searching for Media Lists

  1. Navigate to the Contacts tab.
  2. Select Lists.
  3. Select the Sort by option to sort lists in ascending or descending order by:
    • Relevance
    • Name of the list
    • Date the list was Last Updated
    • The number of Contacts Count for the list

OR

4. Click on the magnifying glass icon in the upper-right hand side of the lists.

5. Type in the name of the list you would like to view and up to 5 matching list names will appear upon text input.

NOTE: You are able to search for lists created by you or those that have been shared with you!



Saved Contacts List Functions

  • Use the Elipses button on your Saved Contacts Lists screen to do the following:
  • Delete Saved List - Will remove this list from the Saved Contacts Lists in the platform. 
    • You are unable to re-activate the list once deleted. 
    • You will only see the delete Saved List option for the lists you created or that were shared with you by your colleagues.
  • Share Settings - Choose whether to share the list with your colleagues or keep it private so they are unable to see the list. 
    • You can select from the following: 
      • Private - Only you can see, edit or delete the list.
      • View Only Access - Your colleagues can view the list, but cannot edit or delete it.
      • Full Access - Gives your colleagues the ability to edit and delete your list.
  • Campaign Settings - Add the Contact List to an existing campaign for further outreach an d organization.
  • Export CSV - Export the Contact List into and Excel .csv file for outreach outside of the platform.

Managing Media Lists

1. Navigate to the Contacts tab and select Lists.


2. Click into the name of a list to view the contacts.


3. Edit the Name of your list at the top of the screen.

4. Use the drop down in the upper-right to sort the Contacts and Outlets in a list using the following options:
  • Ascending/Descending - Choose whether you would like the sorted results in ascending or descending order.
  • Relevance: Auto-sort of results based upon your search parameters and filters applied.
  • Name: Sort contacts and outlets alphabetically by full name. This option will sort contacts by first name full name for outlets.
  • Article Reach: The expected or actual readership for media outlets/average readership of journalist's articles in last 180 days.
  • Social Reach: The sum of a journalists subscribers and followers across Twitter and Twitch.
  • Engagement Score: A 1-10 score reflecting engagement on the influencer's article and social content.
  • Weekly Activity: The average number of articles and tweets the influencer publishes per week.
5. Use the magnifying glass in the upper-right to search for specific Contacts or Outlets in the list.

6. Open the Filter options by clicking on the arrow on the left-hand side, underneath the name of the list. 
7. Click on the Eye icon to view the profile for a specific Contact or Outlet.

8. Use the Ellipses button to Add the Contact or Outlet to Another List or Remove them from the current list you are viewing.

9. To add one or more media contacts or outlets to a new list, use the check boxes along the left to select, then click on Add to List to add to another existing list or create a new list.

10. Use the Actions button to do the following:
  • Delete Saved List - Will remove this list from the Saved Contacts Lists in the platform. 
    • You are unable to re-activate the list once deleted.

  • Share Settings - Choose whether to share the list with your colleagues or keep it private so they are unable to see the list. 
    • You can select to keep the list:

      • Full Access - Gives your colleagues the ability to edit and delete your list.
  • Campaign Settings - Add the Contact List to an existing campaign for further outreach and organization.
  • Export CSV - Export the Contact List into and Excel .csv file for outreach outside of the platform.
  • Create Briefing Book - Export the Contact List into a Breifing Book, which will contain pertinent information about that Contact or Outlet.




Exporting Media Lists

  1. Navigate to the Contacts tab.
  2. Select Lists.

3. From your results page, click on the Ellipses button to the right of an existing list and select Export CSV to download the list into a spreadsheet.

4. Alternatively, you may click into the name of a list to view the included contacts/outlets, then click on the Actions button and select Export CSV.

You are able to export the following location information from Cision Connect into Excel:

5. Select .CSV or .SCSV as your desired file type.

6. Click on the Next: Terms and Agreement button.

7. Read, then check the box that you agree to the Cision Data Download Terms and Agreement.

8. Click on the Download CSV button to complete the export.
